CIC energiGUNE seminar "From Lithium to post-lithium systems at the Institute of Applied Materials ? Energy Storage Systems"

Speaker: Dr. Sonia Dsoke

From: Materials Synthesis group, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), Karlsruhe, Germany

The Institute of Applied Materials - Energy Storage Systems, IAM-ESS, at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), headed by Prof. Helmut Ehrenberg, has a strong and long-standing expertise in the study of materials for energy storage systems. The focus of the institute lies in the development of novel materials for energy storages like lithium ion cells and an understanding of material-property relationships.

As part of IAM-ESS, the "Materialsynthesis" group, led by Dr. Sonia Dsoke has special focus on developing novel materials for Li- and post-lithium systems both in organic and aqueous electrolytes. In this context, supercapacitors, battery and hybrid systems are studied. In the present talk, an overview of the current activities will be given and a special focus will be dedicated to a recent study related to the effect of Li-, Na- and K- based electrolytes on the performance and cycling stability of activated carbon electrodes.
