Dr. Abdessamad Faik is a Group Leader with extensive experience in the development of innovative materials for thermal energy storage (TES) solutions for different applications such as concentrated solar power (CSP) and industrial waste heat recovery. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Basque Country (Leioa, Spain), where his work was focused on the synthesis, structural study, and phase transitions at non-ambient conditions of double perovskite materials. After his Ph.D., he had obtained a post-doctoral fellowship at CNRS (Orleans, France), where he had studied innovative and original materials for sensible TES. Then, he worked as a guest scientist at DLR (Stuttgart, Germany). In this position, He developed and studied new materials for thermochemical energy storage at medium and high temperatures. After that, he worked at IRESEN (Rabat, Morocco) as the head of the thermal systems department, where he participated in different academic and industrial projects. He is the coordinator of the thermal energy storage sub-program of EERA-ES – European Energy Storage Alliance - Energy Storage. In 2018, he received the first edition of Researcher Recognizing Award organized by the Basque Government for recognizing the research work and scientific-technological merit of scientists at Basque Country.
