EMILIE BEKAERT

Presentation

Expert in battery technology from laboratory scale to industrial module. Dr. Emilie Bekaert lead group of Ageing, Post-mortem & Safety in CIC energiGUNE. She works with industrial and academic partners to develop, diagnose and improve battery for stationary and mobility application. She holds a broad set of problem-solve and technical skill that would benefit the understanding of battery and enhance them performances and lifespans. Here techniques came from more than 15 years of research in science from fundamental to apply. First, she completed her PhD in Materials science from the university Lille I (France) in 2004. Where she focused her thesis work in the conversion of tin and alkali chlorides to phosphates and vitrification into silicate glasses. Second, as a post-doc research fellow, she joined the Network of Excellence ALISTORE at the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry in Bordeaux (France). Her research was dedicated to the applications of solid-state NMR to the structural and physicochemical characterization of Li-ion batteries materials. In 2008, she joined ZSW-Zentrum für Sonnenenergie und Wasserstoff-Forschung, Ulm, Germany and worked on scaled-up synthesis for industrial partners. Under the supervision of Dr. Margret Wohlfahrt-Mehrens (ZSW), she also joined in 2011 the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (Germany). Her research focused on different topics related to electrode materials for Li-ion batteries. In 2014, she became research line manager of Post mortem at the CIC energiGUNE, where her teams focus on the analyses of failure mechanism of Electrical Energy storage (EES) systems. Since 2018 the line had then evolved to a group with the addition of new competences as ageing and safety.
