Iciar Monterrubio attended the degree in chemistry at the University of Granada where she was awarded a scholarship to carry out 16 months of her studies at the University of Florence where she specialized in environmental chemistry and did the final degree work within the framework of pollutants in aqueous systems.
Upon completion of the degree, she completed a professional Master´s degree in rubber and derivatives technology and then received a Faro scholarship to work at Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University (Phitsanulok, Thailand) for 7 months in which she research about the pollution in cities and Thailand national parks by heavy metals and particulate materials in air and biomarkers.
After this stay, she completed a Master´s Degree in Environmental Pollution and Toxicology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU) where he did her master´s thesis in the development of epoxy-silica hybrid resins enriched with titanium dioxide and titanium dioxide doped with cerium nanoparticles.
In December 2018, she started her work at CIC energiGUNE as laboratory technician for the solid-state electroactive materials research group working in the field of Li-ion, Na-ion and Na-air batteries. Since September 2019 Iciar Monterrubio works as a Predoctoral researcher in the same group in the lines of research for advanced cathodes materials and sodium ion performing her doctoral thesis in the accelerated development of materials for electrodes in Li-ion and Na-ion batteries.
