Dr. Itziar Aldalur received her Bachelor´s degree in Chemistry, specialized in polymers, at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2013. During the last year of her Bachelor´s degree, she obtained an Ikasiker collaboration grant from the Basque Government in order to carry out a 6 months research work focused on polymeric coatings in Polymat Institute for Polymer Materials.

In 2014 she obtained her Master in Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials. The Master´s project was carried out at Polymat in the research field of polymeric coatings for metallic surfaces.

In September 2014 she joined Polymat as research assistant for 10 months. During this period, she was involved in the synthesis and characterization of polymeric biodegradable microspheres as drug delivery systems.

Itziar joined CIC energiGUNE in September 2015 to accomplish her PhD thesis entitled "New Polymer Electrolytes for all-solid-state lithium batteries" under the supervision of Prof. Michel Armand and Dr. Michal Piszcz in Polymer Electrolytes research line. Her PhD research work was focused on the synthesis of new polymer electrolytes that present low crystallinity and high ionic conductivity in order to decrease the operational temperature of all-solid-state lithium metal batteries. Within this scope, she visited Maria Forsyth´s research group at Deakin University (Autralia) for 3 months where she prepared and studied a novel nanofiber-reinforced polymer electrolyte with high ionic conductivity and improved mechanical properties. In 2019 she obtained her PhD degree at the University of the Basque Country with international mention and Cum Laude Honors.

In October 2019 she joined the University of the Basque Country as graduate researcher and Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Chemistry. She participated on the lectures of Basic Laboratory Operations at undergraduate level.

In April 2020 she re-joined CIC energiGUNE as Research Engineer in Polymer Electrolytes research line under the supervision of Prof. Michel Armand.
