Cristina Luengo is an R+D+i project manager, with proven track record and experience in project management for both industrial projects and funding programmes. She has a mix background on science and management. She has broad knowledge of various disciplines of application of polymeric materials, in particular of inks, coatings, semi-conductors, thermoplastic elastomers and rubber adhesives, and also and industrial know-how of synthesis techniques, formulation and processing. She is also experienced with the use and implementation of R+D management tools such as the preparation of the business case, risk analysis, FMEA in product and process, or the study of the technical and economic feasibility of projects.

Cristina obtained her licentiate degree in Chemical Sciences specialising in Polymer Science and Technology in 2000 from the University of the Basque Country. Granted with a scholarship from Repsol-YPF, she moved to UK to complete her doctorate degree on the photo-degradation mechanisms and modes of stabilisation of SEBS triblock copolymer in the Manchester Metropolitan University and obtaining her PhD title in 2004. After reading her thesis, she joined the company FUJIFILM Imaging Colorants (UK) as a research chemist developing dispersants for inkjet technology. In 2007 Cristina joined the company Scapa UK (UK) as a technologist developing new products for cable wrapping tapes, pressure sensitive adhesives and self-amalgamating tapes, and being promoted in 2009 to responsible of the cable wrapping tapes business unit, and collaborating to implement internally on an European level a new R+D+i project management system.

Since September 2012 she works as Technology Transfer & R+D Project manager at CIC energiGUNE taking responsibility for NETS group, where on top of the management and coordination of the R+D funding programmes, she is in charge of aspects relating to knowledge management, IP management, the development of the collaborative framework of the centre and actions to promote the visibility of the activities of the centre. She is also member of the implementation and monitoring committee of CIC energiGUNE's Strategic Plan 2012-2016.

Along her career in the industrial sector, Cristina has commercialised a total of 11 new products and has successfully implemented many cost reduction projects through raw material substitution and process improvements using Lean Six Sigma. She has also been involved in the organising committees of several international congresses and scientific events, and has acted as an evaluator for the European Commissions in FP7 and H2020 framework programmes both in new proposals (Energy; SME Instrument) and as reviewer of the progress of funded projects.
